Gravel is one of the most attractive, economical and versatile surfaces on earth. But without help, it's inclined to move around, creating ridges and ending up where it shouldn't. Core gravel is the solution. It creates a naturally porous stabilising base into which the gravel site - and STAYS! It's easy to lay, inexpensive and very, very effective.
As you can probably guess from the title, the month of November has taken the Living Gardens team to the coast. This month has mostly been spent in Lytham in a Landscape Contractor capacity, working closely with a leading northern garden designer, bringing to life their detailed plans by constructing a large modern outdoor space.
The Living Gardens Team can now tell that there is a bite of cold in the air, however some prefer these working conditions as opposed to the blazing hot sun! Autumn is a great time of year to see colour change in leaves which can give a garden a totally different look. It’s also one of our favourite times of year to go for a walk, kicking through leaves as you do!
Weather-wise August was amazing! Good temperatures and nice breezes have made it a real joy to be out there doing what we love – building gardens! This month took us to Alderley Edge in Cheshire. Living Gardens challenge here was to incorporate a play area, paved seating area, storage space and composite deck veranda into a narrow outdoor family space.
It’s always a question that people ask, “What should I do with my front garden?”. It’s not always easy to answer – in fact it is usually followed by a question back from Living Gardens “What do you want from your front garden?”. A common answer is “I just want it to look nice”. A not so common answer is “An extra room for us to sit in in all weather conditions – hidden from the public view”.
As people look to create height in their garden, whether it be to block an unsightly view, give you more privacy or just as a feature of interest in the garden, Pleached Trees are becoming more and more popular in domestic gardens, even in small outdoor spaces!
As we’ve noticed in the past few years the weather really has warmed up in March, with bulbs shooting up in dormant borders and grass begging to be cut earlier than expected! This time of the year has also become renowned for good news at Living Gardens!
As the rain, hail, sleet, snow pour down, a glimmer of sun poked it's way into Living Gardens' letterbox yesterday - we have been short-listed for a national APL (Association of Professional Landscapers)award for garden design and landscape.
Following on from our update earlier in the year, that our garden design was chosen by Zach's family, we are pleased to announce that the garden for Zach and his family in Salford is now complete.
